Who is the CCCM?

The Child Care Coalition of Manitoba is a public education and advocacy organization, established in 1993 and incorporated in 2007. Our work consists primarily of child care research, education, and campaigns. We are a broadly-based coalition, and our members include parents, current and retired child care workers, unions, women’s organizations, child care centres, organizations committed to social justice and community economic development, and others. (See our list of member organizations).

Part of the Canadian childcare movement

We work collaboratively with the national child care movement, and are the affiliate of Child
Care Now
, Canada’s childcare organization.

How we work

We welcome new members who support our mandate. Members receive email updates on our work, and will be invited to participate in campaigns and events and to attend our Annual General.

We encourage groups and organizations to appoint a representative to our volunteer-based Steering Committee, which leads the work of the coalition. Steering Committee members should be available to attend monthly meetings and be willing to participate in cooperative decision- making within a proudly feminist environment.

How are we funded?

The Coalition has no ongoing funding or staff, and relies on volunteer labour, fundraising and contributions from members and supporters. We occasionally receive project funding.
