Premier addresses conference, promises "universally accessible childcare"! Print

On Thursday, November 13th, 2014, Premier Greg Selinger addressed the nearly 600 delegates of the Fourth National Childcare Conference, ChildCare 2020, in the Grand Ballroom of the Fort Garry Hotel, Winnipeg. In his comments, Premier Selinger announced that Manitoba's 2014 Throne Speech would include a committment to "universally accessble childcare" for our province. This is an unprecedented declaration of support! Family Services Minister Minister Kerri Irvin-Ross also attended the Childcare2020 event.

In light of the tremendous energy generated by the Fourth National Childcare Conference,  Premier Selinger's statement, and the province's May committment to establish a Commission on Integrated Early Childhood Care Education and Learning,  Manitoba advocates should expect to soon see real provincial progress on ECEC.
